Frequently asked questions

Product

Do I get new versions of the engine?

Yes, at no extra cost for as long as your membership runs. We only release new versions once they have passed on historical data and then in a forward test on our own account. Updates arrive through our server – no new file, no reinstall. For strategy updates you see the changelog in the Console and decide yourself when to switch – for example not in the middle of a challenge. A new version is no promise of better results.

What exactly am I buying?

A software license. Constans Engine is an expert advisor for MetaTrader 5 that runs on your own terminal and executes a fixed, rule-based strategy on your account. The membership includes the engine, the Console, the rule profiles and all updates.

Is this a signal service or account management?

No. We never access your account and never send you signals. The software runs under your control, on your computer or VPS, with your own login.

Which markets does the engine trade?

One market: the Nasdaq 100 as a CFD (US100.cash at FTMO), only during the US session from 15:30 to 22:00 Swiss time (9:30 am to 4 pm New York). If another market is added, there is a new profile version – you see it before you buy and at any time in the Console.

Can I change the strategy?

You choose the firm profile, phase and account size. The strategy rules and the loss brakes themselves are fixed – that is what keeps the results comparable to the published track record.

Prop firms & rules

Which prop firms can I use it with?

Constans Engine is built around FTMO's rules, and the standard profile follows them. Other firms that allow expert advisors – for example FundedNext or E8 Markets – set their own conditions for EA use. Read your firm's current terms before you start; rules change and differ between firms.

Does Constans Engine comply with FTMO rules?

It is built around FTMO's rules: at most 2 % risk per trade, its own daily brake at −3.5 % (FTMO allows 5 %), an overall brake at −9 % (FTMO allows 10 %), no positions overnight and only a few trades per week. Compliance with a specific firm at a specific time is your responsibility – rules change, and firms differ in how they treat third-party tools.

Can I use it on a funded account?

Yes, on a Swing account. On FTMO Standard accounts, once funded, FTMO prohibits any execution 2 minutes before and after major US economic releases – for the Nasdaq, for example, Fed rate decisions, payrolls and inflation data, even if only a stop is triggered. The engine has no news filter. Swing accounts are exempt from this rule.

Why does the engine brake at −9 % when FTMO allows 10 %?

Because stopping before the firm does keeps the account. The one percentage point is a reserve for slippage and gaps. The same applies within the day: the engine pauses at −3.5 %, FTMO allows 5 %.

Technology & setup

Which account type do I need?

A Swing account. The engine holds nothing overnight, so that is not the reason. The reason is FTMO's news rule: on Standard accounts, once funded, any execution 2 minutes before and after major US economic releases is prohibited. The engine has no news filter, and its check times land exactly on such releases: data at 16:00 and the Fed rate decision at 20:00 Swiss time. So buy the Swing variant of the challenge.

Can I use it on my phone?

To follow it, yes; to run it, no: the MetaTrader 5 phone app cannot run expert advisors. The engine runs on your MetaTrader VPS and you follow everything in the Console on your phone. Setup needs a computer once for 30 minutes – without one, you can use your own Windows server set up from your phone.

What do I need?

A MetaTrader 5 account with your prop firm, a Windows PC or Mac once for about 30 minutes, and a MetaTrader VPS for 24/7 operation (about USD 15 per month, directly from MetaQuotes). We provide a step-by-step guide and a live check in the Console.

Do I need a VPS?

Recommended, not required. The engine only trades while MetaTrader is running. You can keep your computer on during the US session – a VPS that never switches off is more reliable. We recommend the MetaTrader VPS from MetaQuotes, the maker of MetaTrader: USD 15 for one month, down to USD 10 per month on the yearly plan, 24 hours free to try. You rent it in a few clicks inside MetaTrader, and only you have access. It is not included in the membership price, and we earn nothing from it.

What happens if my connection drops?

Every open position has its stop on the broker's server, so it stays protected. Until the engine is back, however, it can neither exit nor close at 22:00 – which is why it runs on the MetaTrader VPS in a data centre. When it returns, it re-synchronises and continues. Missed entries are not taken late.

What happens if your servers are down?

Then the engine opens no new positions, because every check is decided on our server. Open positions keep their stop at the broker, the brakes keep running locally, and by the end of the session (22:00) at the latest the engine closes everything.

Membership & payment

Is there a free trial?

No. There is a 14-day satisfaction guarantee instead: if you are not happy with the software or the service, you get your money back.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, in the Console or via the Stripe customer portal. The membership runs to the end of the paid period.

What if my challenge fails and I get a new account?

You rebind your license to the new account number yourself in the Console – up to two changes per month.

Security & data

Do you store my trading password?

Never. We do not ask for it and the software does not send it. Your license is bound to your account number only.

What data does the engine send to you?

Status: heartbeat, balance, equity, the orders and trades it placed, its version and errors. That is what the Console shows you. Nothing else.
